Maremmana is a unique, secure, country estate that offers a quality living experience. The concept is modelled on prestigious Estates of Argentina combining a social outdoor life of polo, wide open spaces, wine and good food. The developer, Peter Stuart, has transformed a piece of an undiscovered valley, which is an hour from Cape Town, into 50 very special properties of 1000m² each. The Maremmana Nature Reserve Properties encapsulate the design philosophy of  blending contemporary rural community living within traditional Cape spatial forms. The architecture can be described as Contemporary Cape Barn and the development optimises on the natural landscape, surrounding agriculture, a polo field and trout fishing dams.

The layout is strongly driven by the natural landscape and the topography of the site, with a practice polo field and paddocks developed on surrounding  farmland. The Nature Reserve Properties are situated on the more private eastern portion of the site, within a private nature reserve. All the properties enjoy spectacular views of the Babylonstoring Mountains, the Houwhoek Mountains and others surround the fishing dam. The total area of the estate is approximately 50 hectares (124 acres), of which 3 hectares is to be developed as 50 residential properties. The properties are divided in three groups surrounded by natural fynbos.
